The Beginning

Annnnnd we’re off!  After a whirlwind of weeks filled with organizing, packing, purging, reorganizing, excitement, and tears, we are beginning our adventure.  I'm going to warn you in advance, there are a lot of pictures in this post!  The weeks leading up to this moment have been crazy.  We had movers come Feb 7.  It was our first experience with military movers.  Jury is still out on how they did but they were all very nice and fast!

It was a little weird to sit by munching on our chips and queso while people were working all around us, but also wonderful not to be the ones maneuvering and heaving couches and dragging boxes into a moving truck.  We left Norfolk a little sad to say goodbye but glad to have our sea tour be over and our shore tour begin!
We spent a wonderful ten days at home, complete with an unexpected snowstorm that snowed us in and forced us to completely relax – something we hadn’t done for quite a while.

It made us realize just how blessed we are with two amazing families that love us so completely and sacrificially.  It made our goodbyes that much more difficult.

We said our goodbyes and began our adventure on Wednesday morning.   There was no shortage of tears.  I feel really compartmentalized with this move.  I am so excited for an adventure, thrilled about more time with David, but also anxious about starting over, and incredibly sad to leave family so far behind.

I decided to follow my Dad’s advice and mope until Asheville, and then get myself together, enjoy a wonderful lunch at our favorite restaurant in Asheville, Tupelo Honey, and then focus on making our trip a memory that our family will never forget.
